Section 1
This section was created in 1992, to "close the gap" between the Championship Section & Section 2.
Section 4
This section was added to the National Championships in 1947.
Youth Section
This section formed part of the Welsh Regional Championships between 1965-1992.
NOTES - Years
1980
In 1980 a dispute with the National Championships organiser led to the official Welsh Regional Championships contest not being held. An unaffiliated contest was held in its place by the Welsh Regional Committee, where Cory, Mid-Rhondda, Penclawdd & South Glamorgan Youth took the "honours". The 1980 Welsh invitees to the National Finals were taken from the 1979 Welsh Regional Championships.
2021
The Welsh Regional Championships were cancelled in 2021, due to ongoing uncertainty and restrictions regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.
